Women's Basketball Looks to Build Early Season Momentum as They Head to West Point and Ann Arbor

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies look to jump above .500 on the season as they prepare for a slate of two tough games on the road against Army and the University of Michigan.

Oakland split their games played last week, falling to Michigan State on the road to start the week and closing the week with a big 95-51 win over Cleary on Friday.

Senior Macy Smith lit the Blacktop on fire in the win over Cleary, nailing a career-high six threes (6-of-10 3FG), five in the first half, en route to also a career-high 23 points on the night.

Fellow guard Maddy Skorupski is also starting the season strong, scoring in double-digits both games as she is averaging 15 points, 2.5 steals, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game thus far.

The Golden Grizzlies have also seen a good start from their young players as well, with freshmen Jaidyn Elam and Sereniti Roberts-Adams both contributing over six points per game and have made positive impacts in their early season minutes.

Oakland showed what their potential dominance could look like against Cleary, forcing 26 turnovers and holding Cleary to .283 shooting (17-of-60 FG). The defense of Oakland on the wings and at the point of attack looked sharp, and could be the leading characteristic of their team as the season moves on.

TUESDAY, NOV. 12 @ ARMY | 6 PM | ESPN+

The meeting will be the first ever between the two programs, setting up what will be a big game for both sides.
