The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Band or “Grizz Band” is a non-audition ensemble made up of some of the most spirited students on campus! Students can take the course for zero (no cost) or one credit depending on need. Students should sign up for both semesters with the course number MUE 3032.
The Grizz Band performs at various university activities, including all Oakland University Men's and Women's Basketball home games. Select members of The Grizz Band travel with and accompany the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball teams for annual conference tournaments and post-season play. Notable tournament performances include:
- Men's and Women's Basketball Horizon League Conference Tournament play in Indianapolis, IN.
- Men's Basketball Team to the First and Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA (2024).
- Men's Basketball Team to the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in Tulsa, OK (2011).
- Men's Basketball Team to the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in Milwaukee, WI (2010).
The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Band is under the supervision of Dr. Kenneth Kroesche, and under the direction of Professor, P. David Visnaw II, along with graduate students, Levi Hardy and Jacob Hernandez.
