ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies continue to bolster their future, signing junior guard Samone Andrews to the team.
"I am excited to welcome Samone to the OU family," said Oakland Women's Basketball Head Coach
Keisha Newell. "Samone is an experienced veteran guard who brings a relentless defensive presence every time she steps on the floor. She has a knack for disrupting opponents and setting the tone with her toughness and energy on that end. Offensively, she has the ability to score in a variety of ways and proved that this past season by putting up 442 points. Her leadership and two-way ability will be a huge addition to the culture and competitiveness of our program."
Andrews transfers from just down the road at Rochester Christian University, where, in two seasons, she averaged 11.8 points per game, played nearly 30 minutes per game, and made 53 starts in 61 games.
She had a breakout season in her sophomore year, being named to the WHAC All-Defensive First Team and Second Team All-Conference. She averaged 13.8 points per game and shot .434 from the field while playing 32.2 minutes per game as one of the team's leaders.
During the 2025-26 season, she scored in double digits 24 times for the Warriors, including eight 20-point performances. She scored 25 points twice during the season: against Cornerstone (MI), where she shot 10-for-17 from the field, and against Lourdes, where she went 7-for-16.
Andrews was also a local high school standout at Macomb Dakota High School, where, in 2023-24, she was named BCAM First Team All-State and was a two-time All-Conference MVP.
Andrews adds size, experience, and instant offense to an Oakland backcourt that continues to improve and features one of the deepest guard rotations in the conference.
