BUENOS AIRES, Argentina. - The Argentine Basketball Confederation announced its senior National Women's Basketball Team for the 2028 Olympics Pre-Qualifying Tournament, naming incoming Oakland freshman
Milagros Morell to the team.
During her FIBA career, which has spanned U15 and U17 international competition, Morell has averaged nearly eight points and seven rebounds per game, helping her nation to four third-place tournament finishes and a South American U15 Championship. She now takes the next big step in her career with the senior national team, marking a monumental achievement.
Morell joins an Argentina squad that is fresh off a championship victory in the South American Qualifying Championship in Zárate, Argentina. The squad will hold training camp in Buenos Aires before traveling to Guadalajara, Mexico, for the 2028 qualifying tournament on Aug. 17.
Morell and Argentina will face New Zealand (Aug. 17), South Sudan (Aug. 18) and Brazil (Aug. 20) as they look to advance to the semifinals and finals, with hopes of securing a spot in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
