INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Announced by the conference at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 16, Oakland Golden Grizzlies point guard
Brooke Quarles-Daniels was named the Nike #HLWBB Freshman of the Week.
Previously recognized on November 28 and December 19, this is the third time Quarles-Daniels has earned the award, making her the first Golden Grizzly to receive it three times since Alona Blackwell in 2019-20.
Stretching her streak of games scoring in double figures to four, Quarles-Daniels tallied consecutive double-doubles in victories over the Northern Kentucky Norse on Friday the 13
th and Wright State Raiders two days later.
Against the Norse, she finished with 20 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists, setting new career-highs in all three categories, and followed this up with a 17-point, 11-board, five-assist showing against Wright State.
For the season, Quarles-Daniels is Oakland's second-leading scorer at 10.7 points-per-game, trailing only junior forward
Alexis Johnson's 11.2, and leads the team with 5.4 rebounds-per-contest. She also paces the squad in assists (52) and steals (39).
Winners of three of their last four, Quarles-Daniels and the Golden Grizzlies will next be in action on Wednesday, January 18 against the Detroit Mercy Titans at Calihan Hall at 7 p.m.
Oakland will enter play at 9-8 (4-4 Horizon League), while the Titans are 3-14 (1-7) and on a two-game skid.
