Andrew Hill and
Hayden Nierman and each collected five strikeouts to help propel Oakland to a 5-3 win over the Dayton in the first leg of a doubleheader on Saturday. Hill picked up his first win of the season going 4.0 innings allowing only two runs with one unearned. Nierman picked up his second save of the season going 3.0 innings allowing only one run.
Offensively, the Golden Grizzlies (5-4) were paced by
Lorenzo Elion, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and two RBI.
Josh Dudden put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Brenton Phillips also helped adding two walks and an RBI.
The Golden Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Trovinger executed a suicide squeeze bunt to score Elion from third in the second inning. Dayton (2-6) then tied the game in the bottom half off a fielding error.
The Flyers regained the lead at 2-1 off a home run in the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth, Phillips drew a bases loaded walk followed by a RBI fielder's choice from Post to score

Oakland kept Dayton without a run before building their lead to 5-2 in the seventh inning. The Golden Grizzlies pushed two runs across on a two-run double from Elion that scored Phillips and
Drew Collins. Dayton put one run on the scoreboard in the bottom half off a home run before Nierman struck out the last three batters to secure the 5-3 win.
