FORT WAYNE, Ind. -
Lorenzo Elion went 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of runs scored while Jared Miller provided a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with two RBI as Oakland put together a valiant effort but ultimately came up short, falling at Purdue Fort Wayne, 6-3, in the second leg of a doubleheader on Saturday. Gabe Lux also contributed, going 2-for-4 for Oakland (8-10, 2-5 HL) while Regan Paulina added the first RBI of the game.

Starter Andrew Hill took the loss while Travis Densmore was a bright spot coming out of the bullpen and throwing 6.1 innings, only giving up two runs on seven scattered hits, with no walks and five strikeouts.

The Golden Grizzlies were trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board as Lux came across to score the lone run of the inning off a Paulina sacrifice fly.

The Mastodons (6-8, 3-4 HL) expanded their lead to 6-1 before the Golden Grizzlies offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Oakland scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Miller to score Elion, which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Mastodons.

Oakland kept the Mastodons off the scoreboard before narrowing the gap to 6-3 in the eighth as Miller reached on a fielder's choice to plate Elion. However, the Golden Grizzlies were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
