Andrea Williams was recently one of 10 new members inducted into the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Williams, who graduated from Edinboro with a Bachelor's Degree in Health & Physical Education in 1994, was inducted as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
"It is such an honor to go into your college Hall of Fame. To be inducted as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is a cumulation of the many special people I came in contact with while donning the Plaid," said Williams. "Edinboro is such a great place, school and atmosphere that provided a great foundation for me today in my professional career."
Williams was a standout guard for the Edinboro women's basketball team for two seasons from 1991-93 after transferring from Vincennes Community College. In 1991-92, Williams averaged 11.0 ppg. with 111 assists helping Edinboro post a 22-8 record, finishing as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) runner-up and earning a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament. In 1992-93, she once again helped the Fighting Scots reach the NCAA Tournament, finishing 18-12 overall while ranking third on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and rebounding (5.5 rpg.) with 105 assists. Williams remained with the program serving as a graduate assistant coach under Stan Swank from 1995-97 where she helped guide the 1996-97 team to a PSAC Championship and Elite Eight birth.
Some of Williams coaching milestones include her five seasons as head coach at the Air Force Academy (2010-14) where she won more games in her first season than the Falcons' previous two seasons combined. Her Air Force teams would go on to win the program's first Mountain West Conference (WMC) in four years and second-overall in program history. They also went on to set NCAA Division I records in points scored, rebounds, field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage, assists, free throws made and free throws attempted.
Prior to her time at the Academy, Williams served as an assistant coach from 2008-10 at the University of South Florida helping the Bulls to a pair of WNIT appearances, including a WNIT championship during the 2008-09 season finishing the season with a 27-10 mark.
As part of the coaching staff at Jacksonville University (2004-08), the Dolphins posted a 44-17 record her final two years, with a school-record 23 wins in 2007-08.
While at the University of Tampa, Williams led the team to three consecutive winning seasons with a 55-31 overall record, and a berth into the NCAA Division II National Tournament in 1999-2000.
