TOLEDO. Ohio - Sophomore Bethany Watterworth had 13 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough for the Oakland women's basketball team (6-4), which scored a season-low 36 points in a 64-36 loss to Toledo (5-4) on Friday night at Savage Arena. The loss snaps the Golden Grizzlies' five-game winning streak.
"Toledo is a team that was picked to win their division this season and tonight they showed that they are a tough team to beat on their home court," said Oakland head coach Beckie Francis.
Oakland missed its first seven shots of the game, while the hot-shooting Rockets scored their first three field goals to take a 9-0 lead. Toledo held a double-digit lead from the 14:12 mark of the first half and pushed the lead to32-16 by halftime. Watterworth scored 11 of her 13 in the first half, reaching double-digits by halftime for the seventh time this season.

Senior Kirstie Malone came off the bench to hit Oakland's only 3-pointer and scored five points. A Toledo native, junior Sharise Calhoun was second in scoring for OU with six points. Junior center Brittany Carnago blocked a shot to extend her streak of six consecutive games with a block and increase her career total to 139.
It was the second time this season that Oakland had faced a Mid American Conference opponent after playing an overtime game against a Big Ten opponent. The Golden Grizzlies are now 7-9 in the division I era following an overtime game.
Oakland returns to the friendly confines of the Athletics Center O'rena for its next game against Dartmouth at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies are 5-1 on their home court this season where they have not lost in regulation.
