ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies are set to host a Horizon League series vs. Milwaukee at the OU Baseball Field Friday, April 10-Sunday, April 12. All games will be available to stream on ESPN+ with Neal Ruhl on Friday's call (3 p.m. ET), Ryan Cuddy on Saturday (2 p.m. ET), and Matt Kibby on Sunday (1 p.m. ET).
Oakland picked up a strong pair of midweek victories to kick off the week at The Den and continue a three-game win streak, opening with a 4–2 win over Toledo on Tuesday before erupting for a 21–13 offensive showcase against Rochester Christian the following day. Against Toledo, the Golden Grizzlies struck early with a three-run first inning highlighted by sophomore Sam Patton's two-RBI triple and added an insurance run in the fifth, while the pitching staff stranded nine runners and held the Rockets to two runs despite allowing 10 hits. The offense carried that momentum into Wednesday's matchup with Rochester Christian, where Oakland launched six home runs and exploded for an 11-run third inning on the way to a 21-run performance. Redshirt-sophomore Boston Halloran led the charge with a grand slam and five RBIs, while redshirt-sophomore Tony Konopiots recorded his first career multi-homer game as multiple hitters contributed in a 17-hit effort that secured the win.
The Golden Grizzlies are third in the Horizon League with a team batting average of .255, as fifth-year Kyle Revere leads OU with a .330 average and four home runs in 109 plate appearances. From the mound, freshman Ben Green leads the Oakland bullpen with a 3.91 ERA in four starts, drawing up 16 strikeouts and a win.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee has faced a demanding start to the 2026 season, opening the year against a challenging non-conference slate that included series at LSU and Duke, and midweeks against Minnesota and Purdue before transitioning into Horizon League play. Milwaukee highlighted its offensive potential with breakout performances, including 16-run games twice against Northern Kentucky, while also recording a road win at Duke and a high-scoring victory at Evansville early in the season. The Panthers' pitching staff turned in a season-best 10-strikeout outing against Duke, as Gavin Theis leads the bullpen with a 4.05 ERA and 28 strikeouts, concluding a 1-2 record thus far. From the batter's box, Bradyn Horn and Dylan O'Connell run the Panther offense, hitting .361 and .323, respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies and the Panthers are an even 33-33 in the all-time series, with Oakland taking the series at home 2-1 last season, and Milwaukee securing a 2-1 series victory in Wisconsin.
