Neal Ruhl

Neal Ruhl has been the voice of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies since 2014 and was named the Director of Broadcasting in 2015. 

Ruhl is the television and radio voice of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (all sports) on TV-20 Detroit and ESPN+, having called games in the NCAA Tournament in 2010, 2011 & was featured nationally on CBS during Oakland’s upset of Kentucky in the 2024 tournament. He has called games featuring over 60 NBA Draft picks, over 50 MLS Draft Picks and three current Major League Baseball players.

Ruhl was named Hour Detroit Magazine's "Best of Detroit 2020" award winner for best sports play-by-play broadcaster in Detroit, beating out local broadcasters from the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball.

He also works as the fill in radio play-by-play voice on the Detroit Pistons Radio Network alongside former NBA world champion Rick Mahorn, and has worked for the Chicago Bulls Radio Network in the same capacity with NBA world champion Bill Wennington.  

Ruhl has been "The Voice of Detroit City FC" since 2015 calling City matches on CBS Detroit, Fox Sports Detroit and Paramount Plus vs Serie A, Liga MX & USL opponents to a worldwide audience.

Has also hosts a daily sports talk show on Woodward Sports, one of the most successful all digital sports networks in the country, with four time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty.

Additionally, he calls national soccer broadcasts for the NWSL and USL on Paramount Plus.

Ruhl earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Oakland in 2008. He lives in Washington Township and is married to his wife, Silvia. They have three children, Cristiano, Marcello, and Liliana.
