GREENWOOD, Ind. - Three Golden Grizzlies were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as
Lianna Baxter,
Filippa Goula, and
Angie Smith each earned national academic honors.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Baxter, a captain of the squad, led Oakland in multiple ways during the season. A stellar 4.0 GPA helped her earn her second consecutive CSC Academic All-District nod. On the court, she averaged 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while also anchoring Oakland's defense in the paint with nearly a block per game.
Goula was also named an Academic All-District selection, earning the honor with a near-perfect GPA. An immediate impact player since arriving in Rochester, the guard from Greece averaged 9.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and nearly 3.0 assists per game while shooting a team-best 35.3% from three-point range.
The final Golden Grizzly to receive the national academic award was
Angie Smith. In 22 games played, the sophomore guard was one of the conference's most elite two-way players, averaging 10.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while consistently locking down opposing teams' best players.
All three players not only showed elite talent on the court but also continued to elevate and meet the academic standard upheld by the Golden Grizzlies program.
