ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland University women's basketball forward Lianna Baxter has been named to the Horizon League Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, the league office announced this week.
Baxter earns the prestigious honor after compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average while continuing to make a major impact on the court for the Golden Grizzlies. A standout in the classroom and a cornerstone in Oakland's frontcourt, she exemplifies the true definition of a student-athlete.
On the hardwood, Baxter is averaging 8.4 points per game while leading the team with 5.2 rebounds per contest. She has also anchored Oakland defensively, averaging nearly one block per game and consistently protecting the rim against league opponents. Her presence in the paint, combined with her ability to stretch the floor and contribute offensively, has made her one of the team's most reliable and versatile performers this season.
This marks another academic accolade in Baxter's decorated career. She was named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and previously earned Horizon League All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition during the 2024-25 campaign. Her continued success in both arenas underscores her consistency and dedication year after year.
Baxter's recognition highlights not only her individual commitment to excellence, but also the culture of academic achievement within the Oakland women's basketball program.
