KEWADIN, Mich. – After staying consistent in the top-five through all three rounds, the Oakland Women's Golf team finished up a strong performance on the green at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, earning a fourth place finish Monday afternoon.
Over two days of play on the Sundance course at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort, the Golden Grizzlies faced off against 10 highly competitive schools and held their own. On the first day of competition, the Golden Grizzlies found themselves positioned in fourth place 590 (+14) after two rounds of play. In a competitive final round on Monday, the Golden Grizzlies posted 12 strokes-over-par, totaling 890 strokes (+26) through the invitational and earning fourth place on the weekend.
The Golden Grizzlies all posted four top-20 finishes on the weekend. Junior Lily Bargamian led the pack finishing the weekend tied for seventh place with a final of two-over-par (218 strokes) with consistent play each round. Seniors Grace Bozcar and Paige Scott, as well as junior Olivia Hemmila all shot 224 (+8) through the three rounds, tying with each other in 14th place. Logan Bentley finished up the weekend in 53rd place, shooting 235 (+19) and recording three birdies in her collegiate golf debut.
Freshmen Rachel Fay and Channing Hagen competed as individuals during the tournament, carding 241 (+25) and 228 (+12), respectively, as Fay earned the only eagle on the course for the Golden Grizzlies during the weekend on the fourth hole during the second round.
The Golden Grizzlies look next to the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor Sept. 7-8.
