Head coach Heather Fortushniak, a two-time Horizon League Coach of the Year, will lead the team in her second NCAA Regional in as many seasons at the helm, as she looks to guide the program to its first trip to the NCAA Championship.
The Golden Grizzlies earned their spot in the Ann Arbor Regional by winning the Horizon League Championship for the third straight year. Hemmila and Bargamian led the charge, tying for fourth place and earning All-Tournament Team honors. The duo also received season accolades, with Hemmila named to the All-League First Team and Bargamian earning the Sportsmanship Award and All-League Second Team honors. Bentley also claimed a top-10 finish, placing sixth to help Oakland secure a 12-stroke victory with a final team score of 933 (+57).
Earlier this season, Oakland competed at the U-M Golf Course in the Wolverine Invitational, where the Golden Grizzlies faced five programs that advanced to last season's NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals. Hemmila, Bargamian, Hagen, Scott, and Boczar represented Oakland and posted a final team score of 941 (+89).
At last year's NCAA Regionals, the Golden Grizzlies concluded the Columbus Regional with a final score of 942 (+78). Hemmila, Bargamian, and Boczar were Oakland's top performers, as Hemmila tied for 51st (231, +15), Bargamian placed 58th (234, +18), and Boczar tied for 60th (236, +20).
