Oakland Women’s Golf Selected to Ann Arbor for NCAA Regional

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Wednesday, the Oakland women's golf team earned an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship after winning its third consecutive Horizon League title. The Golden Grizzlies were placed in the Ann Arbor Regional by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee. Hosted by the University of Michigan, the regional competition will take place May 11-13.

Regional play will be held May 11-13 at six sites: Ann Arbor (Michigan), Chapel Hill (North Carolina), Louisville, Stanford, Tallahassee (Florida State), and Waco (Baylor). A total of 396 participants will compete, with each site featuring 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams and the lowest individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to the national championships, scheduled for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Texas will host the championship, with the final three days televised live on the GOLF Channel.

The 2026 Horizon League champions received the No. 12 seed in the Ann Arbor Regional following a dominant performance at the conference championship. Juniors Lily Bargamian and Olivia Hemmila tied for fourth overall to earn All-Tournament Team honors, while freshman Logan Bentley placed sixth to help Oakland secure a 12-stroke victory with a final team score of 933 (+57).

Earlier this season, Oakland competed at the U-M Golf Course at the Wolverine Invitational, where they faced five programs that advanced to last season's NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals. Hemmila, Bargamian, freshman Channing Hagen, and seniors Paige Scott and Grace Boczar represented the Golden Grizzlies and posted a final team score of 941 (+89).

This will be Michigan's second time hosting an NCAA Regional in four years, with the first coming in 2022, which also featured the Golden Grizzlies. After winning the program's second conference championship, Oakland finished 12th in the Ann Arbor Regional with a score of 942 (+90).

Head coach Heather Fortushniak will lead the program to its second NCAA Regional appearance in her two seasons at the helm. The former Horizon League Coach of the Year will look to guide Oakland to its best NCAA Regional finish in program history and earn a spot in the championship field.
