INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Friday, the Horizon League announced its 2025 #HLMSOC awards, naming four Golden Grizzlies among the league's top performers.
Jace Foster,
Tim Allos,
Malik Sylvester, and
Marco Mazzei each earned All-League recognition after standout seasons for Oakland.
Seniors
Tim Allos and
Jace Foster were both named to the All-League Second Team. Allos earned his first career All-League nod following a prolific goal-scoring campaign, tallying a team-high six goals, including two game-winners — both marks ranking in the top three among all Horizon League players. He is one of just two Golden Grizzlies to record a multi-goal game this season, scoring twice against Green Bay on Oct. 4.
Foster claimed his third consecutive All-League Team honor, continuing to establish himself as one of the conference's elite defenders. The senior has started all 17 of Oakland's matches this season, playing over 1,400 minutes. With two assists — coming against Loyola Chicago (Aug. 21) and Michigan State (Sept. 9) — Foster has made his presence felt on both ends of the pitch. He was also recognized as a finalist for the conference's Sportsmanship Award.
Another pair of Oakland seniors earned All-League Third Team honors, as
Malik Sylvester and
Marco Mazzei were both recognized for the first time in their careers.
Sylvester served as the anchor of Oakland's back line, starting all 17 games while logging a team-high 1,520 minutes and playing the full 90 in all but one match. He helped the Golden Grizzlies secure a shutout win over Northern Kentucky (Oct. 25) and also found the back of the net against Purdue Fort Wayne (Sept. 13).
Mazzei claimed his All-League spot after a strong season as a dynamic, all-purpose midfielder. He tallied three goals and three assists — one of just two Golden Grizzlies to record multiple goals and assists this year — while leading the team in shots on goal (13). He registered assists in back-to-back matches against Michigan State and Purdue Fort Wayne.
The four senior leaders now aim to guide Oakland on another deep postseason run as the Golden Grizzlies face No. 3 seed Green Bay in the #HLMSOC Championship Quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. ET in Green Bay.
