ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland University women's tennis team takes a short trip down I-75 to compete in the one-day WSU Doubles Tournament.

The annual tournament, hosted by Wayne State, has included the Golden Grizzlies since it began during the 2023-24 season. Matches will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, October 25 at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility.

Joining Oakland and Wayne State in the tournament are Findlay and Tiffin. Oakland, Wayne State, and Findlay have competed every year in the annual tournament, while Tiffin returns after not participating during the 2024-25 season.

In last year's tournament, Oakland went 7-5 overall, led by Emilia Jarvinen and her partner Ward, who went 3-1. Duos Edie Hammond/Nisa Bulut and Martyna Piechowicz/Lee secured two wins each at the event. The previous year, the Golden Grizzlies went 7-9.

The team enters the tournament after a dominant showing at the Horizon League Individual Championship. Piechowicz claimed the singles title with a perfect 5-0 in singles play, earning her a spot in the ITA Conference Championships in early November. She defeated teammate Oliwia Klimas in the final, and two other Golden Grizzlies reached the quarterfinals. In the doubles, Oakland went 3-3, with Jarvinen and Hammond reaching the semifinals before narrowly falling to eventual champion Youngstown State, 8-7 (11-9).
