BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies Women's Tennis team split its final two matches of the regular season this weekend at the Bloomfield Tennis & Fitness Center. The Black and Gold took the victory over Youngstown State, 4-3, on Saturday, before succumbing 4-3 to Cleveland State Sunday afternoon. With the win over YSU, Oakland took the Horizon League Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed into the tournament for the first time in program history. 

Against Youngstown State, juniors Edie Hammond and Emilia Jarvinen continued their strong play in doubles, cruising to a 7-5 win on the No. 1 court, after being down 5-3, to clinch the team doubles point and secure the regular season title. Freshman Oliwia Klimas on No. 2 singles, Hammond on No. 4 singles, and Jarvinen on No .5 singles took home wins on the court, as sophomore Nisa Bulut also pushed her No. 3 singles match to a deciding set before narrowly falling. 

Oakland returned to the court the following day against Cleveland State, where the Vikings captured the doubles point with wins on courts 1 and 3. Bulut continued a strong weekend performance, earning Oakland's lone point with another three-set victory at No. 3 singles. Several additional matches were tightly contested, including three-set battles from sophomore Martyna Piechowicz at No. 1 singles and Klimas at No. 2.
