Golden Grizzlies Bolster Backcourt with EMU Transfer Cali Denson

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland Women's Basketball adds another layer to their backcourt as they announce newest signee Cali Denson.

The 5'8 guard from Milwaukie, Ore. spent the 2023-24 season as a member of the Eastern Michigan Eagles. As a freshman she appeared in 18 games last season, starting 15 games. She averaged nearly seven points per game, scoring in double digits four times and nine points or more eight times. She scored a season-high 15 points against North Dakota State (12/3/23), going 6-of-13 (.462) from the field and 3-of-6 (.500) from deep. She also has a high ceiling on the defensive end, going for multiple steals in a game four times over the course of the season.

Denson is one of the best players in Oregon high school basketball history, where at Milwaukie Academy of the Arts she shattered several school records and became a household name in the west coast basketball scene.

"Cali is a great addition to the Oakland family. She can flat out score the basketball. Cali is one of the greatest scorers in the state of Oregon's history," said Oakland Head Coach Jeff Tungate.  "She had a 52 point game, made 14 3's in a game, and averaged 27 points per game as a senior. Cali was also runner up for Gatorade Player of the Year in Oregon. She started fifteen games this past season as a freshman in the MAC, so she has the experience to step in and be a major contributor right away. This is an exciting day for Oakland University Women's Basketball".
