Golf Star Alumni Thomas Giroux Qualifies for Final Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School Tour

Rochester, Mich. -  After an illustrious collegiate career at Oakland University where he set the single season and career scoring averages, while also making NCAA finals, becoming the first competitor in school history, Thomas Giroux is making noise in the pro ranks.

Giroux is a current member of the PGA Tour Qualifying School (Q-School), which  is a series of annual golf tournaments that are used to determine eligibility for the following year's PGA Tour. Q-School provides an opportunity for aspiring professional golfers to earn their PGA Tour cards, which grants them entry into PGA Tour events,  giving them the chance to compete against the best golfers in the world.

The structure of Q-School involves multiple stages, with players advancing through pre-qualifying tournaments to reach the final stage. The final stage is the last hurdle, and those who finished high enough on the leaderboard earn their PGA Tour cards.

Through second stage of Q-School , Giroux demonstrated the resilience and determination that he showed while being a Golden Grizzly. With the golf course playing long and wet, he delivered strong performances, including rounds of 73, 67, 72, and 68. While some consider the final round of second stage to be the most stressful of their playing careers, Giroux not only met but exceeded expectations, finishing an impressive 5th place.

Giroux's outstanding performance at the Qualifying School has earned him at spot in the Q-School Final Stage, which at a minimum, provides him with conditional Korn Ferry status for next season.

The Korn Ferry Tour is a partnering tour of the PGA, where young and developing players can play on the biggest stage and earn their PGA Tour Cards. Countless PGA Tour Pros have gone through the Korn Ferry Tour. An estimated three out of every four PGA Tour members are Kron Ferry Tour alumni.

The Korn Ferry Tour yields the following placement rewards:

- Top five finishers and ties at Final Stage will Earn PGA Tour Cards
- Next 40 finishers and ties at Final Stage will earn exempt status through multiple reshuffles of
the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour season, with the first 25 finishers and ties being subject to the third
reshuffle.
- The next 20 finishers and ties at Final Stage will earn exempt status for the Latin America swing
of the 2024 PGA Tour Americas season, while also earning conditional Korn Ferry Tour
membership.
- All remaining finishers at Final Stage will have conditional Korn Ferry Tour membership and
conditional PGA Tour Americas membership for the 2024 season.

Giroux continues his journey to the PGA with the final stage of Q-School coming on Dec. 14-17 at the Sawgrass CC and TPC Sawgrass Valley Course, as well as the Kron Ferry Tour beginning on Jan. 14 at the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic.
