CAIN SIGNS CONTRACT WITH MIAMI HEAT, EARNS SHOT AT NBA SUMMER LEAGUE

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's Basketball student-athlete Jamal Cain has signed a undrafted free agent contract with the Miami Heat as the grad student will compete in the NBA Summer League July 5-7.

The Heat finished first in the Eastern Conference in the 2021-22 season, falling in the conference finals to Boston four games to three following a 53-29 season as Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and company welcome six undrafted free agents ranging from power fives to mid-majors.

Cain averaged 19.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as the only Horizon League player to average a double-double. The Pontiac native and Horizon League Co-Player of the Year reached a career-high 32 points in the team's win over Detroit Mercy, posting Oakland's first 20-20 game since the 2020 season with 26 points and 21 rebounds against Green Bay.

Joining the ranks of pro-Golden Grizzlies, Cain becomes the fifth NBA-bound Oakland athlete under Head Coach Greg Kampe's tenure.  This is the second-straight black and gold student-athlete to be on the Heat roster with Kendrick Nunn back in the 2019-20 season.

The Miami Heat's 2022-23 NBA Summer League season gets underway July 2 at 5:00 p.m. ET in the California Classic at the Chase Center in San Francisco against the Los Angeles Lakers.
