Oakland Men's Basketball Releases 2025-26 Conference Slate

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team has released its Horizon League schedule for the 2025-26 season, the university and the League announced today.

Under the guidance of head coach Greg Kampe, the longest-tenured head coach at one school in Division I, will lead the Golden Grizzlies for his 42nd season. Kampe, who currently sits at 715 wins, ranks in the top-10 for most wins by active Division I head coaches.

Kampe and the Golden Grizzlies return to the court after an 11-9 record in Horizon League play last season, earning their way to the League Tournament Semifinals before falling in overtime to No. 1 seed Robert Morris.

The journey to the league title begins Dec. 3 when Oakland hosts Purdue Fort Wayne at the OU Credit Union O'rena. The team then heads back into non-conference play for two weekends until a trip to Northern Kentucky Dec. 17 before the holiday break. After the break, the Golden Grizzlies will stay on the road Dec. 29 to visit Wright State, then ring in the new year at Youngstown, Jan. 1.

OU will begin a three-game homestand in a rematch of the 2025 Horizon League Semifinal against Robert Morris on Jan. 4, before hosting Cleveland State and Wright State on the Blacktop Jan. 9 and 11. Midway through January, the team will then head to Wisconsin for a weekend to see Milwaukee (Jan. 15) and Green Bay (Jan. 18). Oakland will see IU Indy inside the OU Credit Union O'rena for a Wednesday night match-up on Jan. 21 before the first game of the Metro Series at Detroit Mercy Jan. 24. The team will close out the month Jan. 28 at Purdue Fort Wayne.

The team opens February with a heavy home slate hosting Northern Kentucky, Youngstown, Green Bay, and Milwaukee on the Blacktop Feb. 1, Feb.12, Feb. Feb. 20, and Feb. 22, respectively. OU will have quick road trips to Cleveland State (Feb. 4) and Robert Morris (Feb. 15) to end their time on the road before Senior Day and the final game of the Metro Series, hosting rival Detroit Mercy in Rochester on Feb. 28.
