ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Men's Golf Team will be competing Monday and Tuesday, October 17th and 18th at the Dayton Flyer Invitational hosted by The University of Dayton. The tournament will be held at the famed NCR South Course which recently hosted the 2022 US Women's Open. NCR will be played as a par 72, 7,285 yards.
The line-up for the Golden Grizzlies will be Senior
Colin Sikkenga who will be making his 33rd career start for the Grizzlies, Senior
Anthony Comito, Junior Yaro Ilyenko, Freshman
Ellis Kinnaird who is coming off his first collegiate top ten.
Grant Tucker will round out the lineup with his second career start. Sikkenga, Comito, Ilyenko, and Kinnaird have started in all four events this fall. Oakland also has an invited individual for the event and
Luke Kelly will participate in his third collegiate event.
The field will consist of thirteen teams including Dayton, Wright State, Cleveland State, Illinois, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Marquette, Marshall, Oakland, Bowling Green, Illinois State, Xavier, and Loyola.
Notes:
- The last time the Golden Grizzlies played in the Flyer Invitational was 2019 when the Grizzlies finished in 4th place.
- Ilyenko, Sikkenga, and Kinnaird are all averaging under 73.7 this season
- With his top 7 finish at the Xavier Intercollegiate last week, freshman Ellis Kinnaird notched his first top ten finish of his collegiate career.
- The team is averaging 292 per event, which is the fourth best scoring average in school history so far.
