Neal Ruhl on the call with former NBA player and collegiate head coach, Rex Walters, as analysis. The game will also be on The Bet 1270AM (WXTY-AM) and on the Audacy App.

Series Note: Depth look for experience against UMD
Out of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Wolverines tand 3-18 overall and 1-11 in the WHAC after suffering nine-straight losses including a game against fellow Horizon League member Purdue University-Fort Wayne on January 17.
UM-Dearborn scores 66.4 points per game while allowing its opponents to an average of 67.4. The Wolverines are shooting 38.7% while going 28.9% from deep reinforced by a 55.7% free throw shooting percentage. The Wolverines do have a -7 rebounding margin while giving up 16 turnovers per game to Oakland's 12.4. The individual stats were available.
The Wolverines are spearheaded by Domenic Policicchio at the helm coming to UMD from Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory High School after leading the Ladywood University Trailblazers.
Jamal Cain secured the program's first 20-20 performance since 2021 with 26 points and 21 rebounds in Saturday's win over University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to inflate the grad transfer's average to 19.9 and 10.0 points and rebounds per game, respectively. This double double is the eighth of the season and his eighth 20-plus point performance as Cain now leads the Horizon League in double doubles.
Jalen Moore still sits first in the nation in assists per game with 8.2 a game following up his performance at Green Bay with 11 points, seven assists, and three steals in the win. Moore now has 149 total assists to his credit.
Trey Townsend and Moore are now fourth and fifth in the NCAA, respectively, with 38.0 and 37.6 minutes per game as Townsend comes off his third 40-minute game in four games. The Oxford native, Townsend, leads the Horizon League in field goal percentage with 53.8% through 19 games as he averages 15.7 points and 6.7 boards per game, respectively.
Oakland is shooting 43.9% (502-1144) from the field while going 28.8% (131-455) from range as one of the longest three-point shooting streaks was kept alive on Saturday with Blake Lampman's shot with the team going 1-9 from deep against the Phoenix.
As of January 21, Oakland was 15th in the nation in free throw shooting as the second team in the Horizon League behind Purdue Fort Wayne. The Golden Grizzlies' average has now gone up to 79.0% (294-372).
Cain is third in the league in scoring with 19.9 points per game while leading the conference in rebounds with 10.0 per contest. Moore naturally leads the Horizon League in assists while Townsend falls to fifth in blocks with 23 total and 1.2 per game. Moore and Cain are a menace on the defensive side of the floor as the two rank third and fourth, respectively, in steals with 1.9 and 1.8 steals per game.
The Golden Grizzlies are 91st in the NCAA NET rankings from 88th after Saturday's win while posting a mark of 55th in the NCAA RPI according to CBS Sports, falling 11 spots.
Oakland was 12th in the January 17rd edition of Mid-Major Top 25 Poll as voted on by mid-major tier coaches. The Golden Grizzlies were 15th in the last poll on January 10.
The Golden Grizzlies are now 104th in kenpom.com rankings playing the 145th toughest schedule in the country and the eighth toughest out of conference schedule.

Moore is now first in the entire NCAA in assists per game with 8.2 a game and 149 assists total. Moore was previously tied with Yuri Collins of Saint Louis who is now in second place.
FIRST HORIZON LEAGUE LOSS
On Thursday, January 20, Oakland dropped its first Horizon League loss in a 10-point defeat to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on the road at UWM Panther Arena in Milwaukee. Before rebounding to a 68-61 win over Green Bay the following Saturday.
LAMPMAN FOR THREE
Blake Lampman has hit 40 of 103 attempts from range this season for a 38.8% shooting percentage from deep. Lampman drained a career high six three-pointers in Oakland's win over Youngstown State on ten attempts.
MINISTER OF DEFENSE
Parrish has an average of 6.2 rebounds per game to go with 24 steals and three blocks on the defensive side of the court in his 17 active games. Offensively, Parrish has a scoring average of 10.1 points per game, shooting 41.9% (54-129) from the field and 29.8% (17-57) from range.
LEADERS OFF THE BENCH
Osei Price and Lampman lead the team in scoring while coming off the bench averaging 3.6 and 6.9 points per game, respectively. Price is shooting 41.0% (25-61) from the field while Lampman, as previously mentioned, is 38.8% (40-103) from range.
HORIZON LEAGUE LEADERS
The Golden Grizzlies are first in the conference in offense, scoring 76.4 points per game while limiting its opponents to 66.9. This gives Oakland a margin of 8.3 for first in the conference as well.
MID-MAJOR SUCCESS
Oakland was slated 12th in the January 17rd edition of the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll as voted on by mid-major tier coaches. The Golden Grizzlies were 15th in the last poll on January 10.
CHARITY STRIPE SUCCESS
Oakland shoots 79% (294-372) from the free throw line as Oakland is 15th in the country, still second in the Horizon League to PFW, as of January 23 prior to the conclusion of Sunday's games.

The team bounced back on their Wisconsin trip for a 68-61 win against the Phoenix at the Kress Center with Cain scoring the first 20-20 game since February of last season with 26 points and 21 rebounds for his eighth double double of the year. Townsend finished with his fifth 20-plus point performance with 23 along with Moore who had seven assists.

The Golden Grizzlies dropped its first Horizon League game against the Panthers in UWM Panther Arena as Cain and Townsend led the team in scoring with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Moore sent out nine assists in the loss as the team shot 29-36 (80.6%) from the line.

Oakland was forced to gut out a come-from-behind win against the Mastodons on Saturday, January 15 down 36-30 at the half before Moore sparked a second half takeover with 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block to remain undefeated in Horizon League play as Cain recorded 18 points in 18 minutes of action.

A 65-60 victory over the Vikings secured Oakland's sixth-straight Horizon League win to claim the top of the conference mantle. Townsend scored 20 points for the fourth time this season as Moore continued to build on his assist legacy with eight. Five total Golden Grizzlies scored in double figures.

A SPECIAL FRIDAY NIGHT
Chris Conway's previous career high in points was two points ahead of OU's game with Ohio Christian. The Naperville, Illinois native earned his first career double double with 22 points and ten rebounds as Trey Townsend got his second double double of the year with 26 points (a career high) and 10 rebounds as well. Emmanuel Newsome made his first start of the season Friday as well tallying eight points, five rebounds, and a steal.
BATTLE IN LITTLE CAESARS ARENA
Moore tallied a double-double in the team's 90-78 loss to Michigan State University with 25 points and 11 assists to his name as Cain notched his second straight contest with 20 or more points, his sixth overall of the season. The squad shot 43.9% (25-57) from the field as the team faces its first, and albeit short, losing streak of the season at two games.
FUN IN THE SUN
Oakland secured the Gulf Coast Showcase title with wins over Vermont, Rice, and Delaware. All three of OU's victories were decided by eight points or less. The tournament took place at Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla. and featured eight mid-major teams. The winner of the MTE has advanced to postseason play in six of its eight years of existence.
UPSET IN STILLWATER
The Golden Grizzlies earned a 56-55 victory at Oklahoma State in their second game of the season. Moore scored the final seven points for OU in the win. The upset was Oakland's 12th career win over a Power 5 program.
GOOD TO BE HOME
Oakland rolled past Toledo, 80-59, in its home opener at the Athletics Center O'rena. OU outscored Toledo 49-27 in the second half, which snapped a four-game losing skid to the Rockets. Cain exploded for 29 points, 17 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, while sophomore guard Blake Lampman had a career night, scoring 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting from outside the arc. Moore had a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists.

Kampe enters his 38th season at the helm of the Oakland men's basketball program. He is the third-longest tenured active coach in Division I, only behind Jim Boeheim (Syracuse, 45 seasons) and Mike Krzyzewski (Duke, 41 seasons). Kampe's 650 career wins rank 12th among active Division I coaches.

Kampe joined Oakland in 1984 after six seasons as an assistant coach at Toledo (1978-1984). Formerly known as the Pioneers, OU had only six winning seasons in 16 years of competition before his arrival.
