ROCHESTER, Mich. – After five seasons in the Black and Gold and playing more games than any other Golden Grizzly, former letterwinner Blake Lampman was named to Greg Kampe's staff as an Assistant Coach/Director of Operations on Thursday.

"I'm forever grateful for the opportunities Oakland University and Greg Kampe gave me as a student-athlete, and I couldn't be more excited to join Coach Kampe's staff," said Lampman. "It's an honor to give back to the program that has meant so much to me."

Lampman heads back to Rochester after two seasons with Tom Izzo and Michigan State as a graduate manager. In his two seasons, the Spartans won over 50 games and made runs in the NCAA Tournament. MSU won the Big Ten Regular Season title and advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to the No. 1 seed Auburn in 2025. In 2026, he assisted the Spartans in a Sweet Sixteen berth before a five-point deficit to UConn. 

A native of Haslett, Lampman was a letterwinner at Oakland from 2019-24, finishing his career with 1,078 points in 143 career games, the most by any player in program history. As a graduate in 2023-24, Lampman averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Golden Grizzlies won the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, beating Kentucky in the first round before losing in overtime to eventual Final Four participant N.C. State. 

Lampman earned Horizon League All-Conference Second Team honors in 2023-24 and was all-academic four times. 

Lampman earned his bachelor's degree in marketing and a master's degree in organizational leadership from Oakland. He earned a master's degree in sports administration with an emphasis in coaching at Michigan State in 2026.
