Lorenzo Elion went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored,
Drew Collins hit 1-for-3 with a double and RBI while
Michael Stygles went 1-for-3 with an RBI and walk helping Oakland to a 6-0 first inning lead. However, Wright State rallied to tie the game and won in walk-off fashion, 8-7, in the bottom of the seventh inning to open doubleheader play on Saturday.
Oakland's (15-27, 9-22 HL) offense came out hitting on all cylinders bating around scoring runs on six hits in the first inning. Elion got things going with a two-run single to score
Brenton Phillips and
Ian Cleary. Stygles followed with an RBI single to score
Cam Post.
Brandon Heidal then delivered an RBI single to score Elion.
Luke Malmanger hit a sacrifice fly to score Stygles followed by an RBI double from Collins to score
Jared Miller.
After Wright State (27-11, 27-4 HL) narrowed the lead to 6-2 in the second inning, Malmanger dropped a sacrifice squeeze bunt to plate
Jared Miller moving the Golden Grizzles ahead 7-2 in the third inning.
The Raiders' pitching staff held Oakland off the board for the final four innings while adding four runs in the fourth, one in the fifth to tie the game, and got the walk-off hit in the seventh the secure the 8-7 win.
