
DAYTON, Ohio - Oakland got contributions from every part of their lineup as all nine starters reached base safely led by
Michael Stygles who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double, and a run scored and
Lorenzo Elion hitting 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI propelling the Golden Grizzlies to a 5-0 first inning advantage. For the second consecutive game, Oakland could not hold on as Wright State rallied to win 14-6 in the twin bill nightcap on Saturday.
Luke Malmanger hit 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Brandon Heidal also chipped in going 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Brenton Phillips and
Blake Griffith also each went 1-for-3.
Elion jump-started Oakland's (15-28, 9-23 HL) big first inning with an RBI single scoring
Jared Miller followed by an RBI double by Stygles to plate Phillips. Heidal delivered an RBI single scoring Elion and Stygles then scored off a throwing error. Malmanger capped off the 5-0 first with an RBI single scoring Heidal.
Wright State (28-11, 28-4 HL) then responded to take a 9-6 lead with four runs in the third and five in the fourth inning. Stygles connected on his second hit to plate Elion in the fifth inning to pull Oakland within three runs at 9-6. However, the Golden Grizzlies were unable to get any closer as Wright State added five runs to their tally on the way to the 14-6 final.
