Cam Post went 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored as Oakland fell 4-3 in walk-off fashion in eight innings during series-opening doubleheader action at Youngstown State on Friday afternoon.
Lorenzo Elion returned to the line up going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Jared Miller and Brenton Phillps each hit 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Starter
Bryce Konitzer tossed six innings with three runs on six hits, with one walk and two strikeouts in the no-decision effort.
Brandon Deans came out of the bullpen and took the loss.
After a two-week hiatus, Oakland (9-19, 3-14 HL) wasted little time getting on the board plating three runs on four hits in the top of the first inning off RBI singles from Post and Stygles followed by a sacrifice fly from
Tyler Trovinger to take a 3-0 lead.
After adding a run in the second inning, Youngstown State (19-17, 14-11 HL) tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
YSU got the lead-off runner on base off a fielding error to start the eighth inning. An ensuing walk and wild pitch got the runner in scoring position at third base. When the ball was put into play, the throw was late to the plate allowing the winning unearned run to come across giving the Penguins the 4-3 win.
