
NILES, Ohio - Lorenzon Elion put together a solid performance going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored while
Michael Stygles went 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored as Oakland dropped the doubleheader nightcap, 12-6, at Youngstown State on Friday evening.
Luke Malmanger went 1-for-2 with an RBI while
Tyler Trovinger added an RBI going 1-for-3 along with
Jared Miller who also hit 1-for-3.
Drew Collins also chipped going 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit RBI single.
Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, Oakland (9-20, 3-15 HL) put a pair of runs on the board to tie the game off Stygles' RBI double to score Elion followed by Malmanger's RBI single to plate Stygles.
After the Penguins (20-17, 15-11 HL) took a 3-2 lead heading into the third inning, Oakland scored three runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Elion followed by Trovinger's RBI single giving the Golden Grizzlies a 5-3 advantage.
However, YSU tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the third and then blew the game open with six runs on six hits in the fifth inning to take a commanding 12-5 lead. Collins delivered a pinch-hit RBI single to score Ian Clearly in the seventh inning.
Both teams will play a single game on Saturday, Apr. 24 at 1 p.m.
