
FARMVILLE, Va - Bryce Konitzer picked up his first win of the season on the mound with a solid outing going 6.0 innings allowing six scattered hits, two earned runs with five strikeouts to lead Oakland to a 10-5 series-clinching win at Longwood on Sunday.
Cam Post had a team-high two RBI while
Jared Miller posted an RBI triple and run scored.
Luke Malmanger also hit his first triple of the season.
Brenton Phillips went 2-for-4 with a run scored while
Lorenzo Elion,
Blake Griffith and
Reagan Paulina added a hit and RBI each.
Michael Stygles also hit 1-for-3 with a team-best two runs scored.
Oakland (4-3) took advantage of Longwood's (4-3) miscues as Post reached on a fielder's choice to score Miller who had reached off an error in the first inning. Griffth also reached off an error in the second and then scored off a throwing error from a sacrifice bunt from
Brandon Heidal to move ahead 2-0.
The Lancers drew even in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of runs. The Golden Grizzlies moved ahead again in the fourth with a pair of runs as Paulina reached on an error to score Stygles followed by Miller's triple to plate Paulina for a 4-2 advantage.
After Longwood pulled within a run at 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Oakland scored five runs on three hits highlighted by RBI singles from Post and Griffith and a sac fly from Elion to blow the game open at 9-1.
Malmanger's triple came in the eighth inning and later scored off a passed ball giving Oakland a 10-4 lead. The Lancers added another run in the bottom half but it was not enough as Oakland secured the third win of the four-game series.
The Golden Grizzlies travel to Dayton for a four-game set on Fri., Mar. 5 - Sun. Mar. 7.
