ROCHESTER, Mich . - The Oakland women's basketball team hosts UIC for Girls and Women in Sports Day on Thursday, Feb. 6 presented by the Oakland University Credit Union. The Golden Grizzlies close the out the home stand against Horizon League leader IUPUI on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live from the Blacktop at the O'rena on ESPN+ and ESPN3 respectively with Brad Golder on the call.
 
Last time out, Oakland Completes Metro Series Sweep: Kahlaijah Dean scored nine of her game-high 15 points in the second half as Oakland used a 14-4 fourth quarter run to rally with a 65-60 come from behind Metro Series win over arch-rival Detroit Mercy on Saturday which marked the sixth consecutive victory over the Titans.
 
Blackwell Named Nike® Horizon League Freshman of the Week: Alona Blackwell earned Nike® Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors after posting 14 points going 5-for-9 from the field and 3-for-5 from 3-point range in her first career start to spark Oakland's come from behind Metro Series win over arch-rival Detroit Mercy.
 
Series Breakdown: Oakland leads the overall series against UIC, 10-6. The Golden Grizzlies also lead the series over IUPUI 24-18 but have lost the last seven consecutive meetings against the Jaguars.
 
A look at the Flames: UIC sits at the bottom of the league standings at 2-9 (3-19 overall). Senior Tylah Lampley (10.3 ppg) leads the Flames in scoring and ranks second in rebounds (5.2) behind junior Jada Nneji who is tops on the team (4.5). Junior Abreanna Lake leads the team in assists (3.1).
 
UIC rewind: Chloe Guingrich posted her second double-double of the season scoring a team-high 14 points with 11 rebounds and three steals while Breanne Beatty added a career-high 12 points as Oakland's second half rally came up short in overtime with a 70-64 setback at UIC (1/4). Dean also reached double figures for the fourth time with 10 points and four assists.
 
Scouting the Jaguars: IUPUI sits atop the league standings with a commanding 10-1 record (16-6 overall). The Jags are led by four-time Nike® Horizon League Player of the Week and Preseason Player of the Year Macee Williams who leads the team in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounds (9.2 rpg) which both rank third and first in the league respectively. Senior Holly Hoopingarner also leads the team and league in assists (3.9 apg).
 
IUPUI Rewind: Guingrich reached double figures for the second consecutive game posting 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds as Oakland dropped its first conference game of the season with a 76-41 setback at IUPUI (1/2).
 
4-Point Play: Against Detroit Mercy in the third quarter, Dean hit a 3-point bucket, was fouled in the process and made the ensuing free throw to complete the elusive 4-point pulling Oakland within six points, 38-32.
 
Double-Doubles: Oakland has had six players in Chloe Guingrich (2), Autumn Kissman (2), Kahlaijah Dean (1), Kayla Luchenbach (1) Sydney Gouard (1) who have produced seven total double-doubles so far this season.
 
Gettin' Buckets: The Golden Grizzlies have had four players score over 20 points this season with Terry (2), Dean (1) and Sydney Gouard (1). Terry has reached double figures in 12 games this season followed by Dean (11), Luchenbach (8), Kissman (7) and Guingrich (6), Alona Blackwell (4), Breanne Beatty (3) and Teneea Heston (1). Guingrich is also top on the team in field goal percentage (55.9).
 
Guingrich Getting After It: Chole Guingrich leads the team in field goal percentage (56.1), total rebounds per game (7.2) and defensive rebounds (5.3) in addition to steals per game (1.3) while ranking second in blocks (7) and blocks per game (0.5).
 
Team Leader: Terry leads the team in assists (3.1 – 5th HL) while ranking second in scoring (11.9 – 9th HL) and steals (1.1 – 11th HL). Against Green Bay and Milwaukee, Terry averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 11-for-27 (40.7%) and 18-for-22 (81.8%) from the free throw line. Against the Phoenix, Terry poured in a career-high 25 points going 3-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-12 from the field with three assists while connecting on 12-of-13 (92.3%) from the free throw line to help seal the win. She then added a game-high 19 points going 6-for-15 from the field and 6-for-9 from the free throw line with five rebounds and four assists against Milwaukee.
 
Dynamic Dean Strong Off the Bench: Dean leads the team in scoring (12.1 - 8th HL) recorded her second career double-double coming off the bench scoring a game-high and season second-best 22 points with 10 rebounds just missing her career mark by one board at Wright State (1/25). She scored a season-high 27 points with six assists while matching a career-best going 9-for-11 from the free throw line against Green Bay (1/9). She also scored 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 3-of-6 from 3-point range at St. Bonaventure.
 
Charity Stripe Production: Oakland is second in the Horizon League in free throw percentage (75.1) which also ranks 38th nationally. Jalisha Terry also ranks second leads the league (85.7) and ranks 25th nationally. Oakland went 30-for-34 against Green Bay (1/9) marking the first time the team made 30-plus free throws since posting 36 against Chicago State 21 years to the date on Jan. 9, 1999.
 
I'll Take That: Oakland ranks third in steals per game (7.81) and fourth in turnovers forced (16.10).
 
Crash the Boards: The Golden Grizzlies ranks fourth in defensive rebounds (26.5) and offensive rebounds (10.8) and are seventh in the league in total rebounds per game (37.2).
 
Pass/Protect the Rock: The team ranks third in assist/turnover ratio (0.93) while Breedy (1.9) leads the league followed by Terry (1.6) in second and Dean (1.2) in sixth. The team is also fifth in turnover margin (1.10).
 
Droppin' Dimes: Oakland ranks third in assists per game (14.43) while Dean (3.1), Terry (3.0) and Breedy (3.0) rank sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
 
Guard the Arc: The Golden Grizzlies also rank fifth in the league in 3-point field goal percentage defense (30.5).
