DELAND, Fla. - Aarja Chakraborty recorded wins at the No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles position while Ava Thielman also posted wins at the No. 1 doubles and singles spot as Oakland battled but came up short at Stetson, 4-3, on Thursday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

Oakland opened the match by taking the doubles point as Thielman and Victoria Kurz defeated Danel Ashirova and Lucie Renault, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles followed by Chakraborty and Nirva Patel outlasting Laia Pasini and Brooke Milner, 7-5, at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, Thielman downed Ashirova in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, followed by Chakraborty who won a hard fought match against Vicky Geurinckx, 6-4, 7-5. However, Stetson rallied to win matches at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 positions to pull out the win.

Oakland travels to Orlando, Fla. for a match against Florida A&M on Friday, Feb. 28 at noon.
