ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies travel to Cleveland, Ohio, for the three-day Horizon League Individual Championship, set for Oct. 2-4 at Cleveland State's Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

The tournament will feature a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. The champion of each bracket will earn invitations to the ITA Conference Masters Championships, scheduled for Nov. 5-8 at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.

Play begins at 9 a.m. ET Friday with two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. Saturday's action starts at 10 a.m. and features two additional singles rounds and another round of doubles. Sunday's competition begins at 11 a.m. with the singles final, followed by doubles semifinal and final.

Singles matches will play a full third set to determine the winner, while doubles will be played as eight-game pro sets.

The Horizon League Individual Championship will feature Cleveland State, IU Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Oakland, Youngstown State and Northern Illinois, the Horizon League's newest member.

Oakland captured the singles title at last year's championship, as junior Martyna Piechowicz defeated teammate and sophomore Oliwia Klimas, 6-2, 6-3, in the final. With both Golden Grizzlies advancing through the draw undefeated before meeting in the championship, Oakland was assured of taking home the title.

In doubles, seniors Edie Hammond and Emilia Jarvinen advanced to the semifinals before falling in a tightly contested match to Youngstown State's Line Greyling and Yeseniia Ovcharova, the Horizon League Individual Doubles Champions and No.2-ranked doubles team, (11-9).

Results of the Horizon League Individual Championship will be available on Cleveland State's Women's Tennis Page and the ITA Tournament page.
