MUNCIE, Ind. - Ava Thielman teamed with
Victoria Kurz for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles to help lead Oakland to its third straight win with a dominating 7-0 performance over Findlay on Saturday at the Muncie YMCA.
Darya Maltseva and
Alexandra Whall won 6-2 at No. 2 doubles while
Aarja Chakraborty and
Nirva Patel also won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep to earn the doubles point.
Oakland then went a perfect 6-0 in singles play with five of six matches being won in straight sets. After Thielman's 6-3, 6-1 over Samantha Sweet at No. 1 singles, Patel rallied from a set down to defeat Luciana Pereyra, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Kurz had no problem with Eliza Kirov, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles while
Samantha Galloway took out Madison Arquette, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
At the No. 5 spot,
Chelsea Dzenga also grinded out a 6-4, 7-5 win over Cristina Nieto while
Emma Hultqvist held off Kayley Gimbel, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
Oakland will play Ball State on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.
