Kahlaijah Dean was named Horizon League Nike® Freshman of the Week, announced the league office on Monday.
Dean, a Bakersfield, Calif. native, averaged 26.0 points shooting 20-for-31 (64.5%) from the field and 9-for-17 from 3-point range (52.9%) at Youngstown State and Cleveland State over the weekend. Against YSU, Dean poured in a career-high 29 points with career marks in field goals shooting a blistering 12-for-18 from the field and 3-pointers hitting 5-for-9 with six rebounds. She followed that performance with a team-high 23 points going 8-for-13 from the field, 4-for-8 from behind the arc and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe with a game-high five steals at CSU.
Oakland concludes its five-game road swing with a Metro Series showdown at arch-rival Detroit Mercy on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.
