OAKLAND ANNOUNCES 2018-19 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

Golden Grizzlies to play Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana and Horizon League opener against Cleveland State on the Blacktop at the O’ rena

ROCHESTER, Mich. Oakland women's basketball head coach Jeff Tungate announced the 2018-19 schedule on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies will host Grace Christian in the home opener (Nov. 6) followed by Indiana (Nov. 11) and instate rivals Michigan State (Dec. 5) and Michigan (Dec. 9) on the Blacktop at the O'rena which marks the third consecutive season Oakland will play three schools from the Big 10 Conference.
 
Oakland will also play three Mid-American Conference schools on the road beginning at 2018 NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant Central Michigan (Nov. 8) followed by Akron (Nov. 11) and Kent State (Nov. 12).
 
The Golden Grizzlies also welcome Canisus (Nov. 25) and Rochester College (Dec. 17) and travel to Illinois State (Nov. 29) and Bradley (Dec. 1) to close out the non-conference slate.
 
Oakland opens Horizon League play at home against Cleveland State (Dec. 28) and Youngstown (Dec. 30) followed by the first of two Metro Series showdowns against arch-rival Detroit Mercy (Jan. 4). All league home games will be broadcast live on ESPN3 or ESPN+.
 
After a pair of home games against Milwaukee (Jan. 18) and defending Horizon League champion Green Bay (Jan. 20), the Golden Grizzlies hit the road for five straight games ending with the rematch at Detroit Mercy (Feb. 9). Oakland closes out the regular season with four of the final six games at home against IUPUI (Feb. 14), UIC (Feb. 16), Northern Kentucky (Feb. 28) and Wright State (Mar. 2) for Senior Day.
 
The Motor City Madness Horizon League Championships will begin on March 5-6 at campus sites with the semifinals and championship game held at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. March 11-12.
