
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's basketball team travels to the state of Illinois for its second two-game road swing of the season. The Golden Grizzlies play Illinois State on Thursday, Nov. 29th at 8 p.m. ET followed by Bradley on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. ET. Both games will be broadcast live from ISU's Horton Field House and Bradley's Renaissance Coliseum on ESPN+.
Notes:
At look at the Redbirds and Braves: Illinois State is 1-4 on the season with their lone win coming against North Dakota. Oakland leads the overall series 3-1 after winning 64-43 in the season opener last year at the O'rena. Oakland and Bradley will be meeting the first time after on Saturday and the Braves are a perfect 4-0 on the season.
Jones Leading the Way: Senior
Taylor Jones leads the team in scoring (17.5), assists (4.2), rebounds (7.7) and steals (1.5) and ranks 15th nationally in field goal attempts (17.5).
Gettin' Buckets: Jones also ranks second in the league in scoring (17.5 ppg). She has scored 20 points or more three times this season including 26 vs Grace Christian (11/6) in the season opener, 20 at CMU (11/8) and 23 at Kent State (11/18) totaling 21 times for her career and has reached double-digits in scoring 63 times.
Double-Doubles: Jones also recorded her second and third career double-doubles over the last two consecutive games including 23 points and 11 rebounds at Kent State (11/18) and 16 points and career-high 13 rebounds vs Canisius (11/25).
Return to Sender: Oakland leads the league in block shots (4.80) per game. Individually, freshman
Kayla Luchenbach leads the team and ranks fifth in the league (1.2) while
Chloe Guingrich (0.7),
Mercy Agwaniru (0.7)
Nikita Telesford (0.7) and
LaKyesha Stennis (0.7) all are tied for 12th.
Grab and Go: The Golden Grizzlies also rank second in the league in turnovers forced (17.50) and are tied for fourth in steals per game (7.50). They also are tied for third in assist to turnover ratio (0.9).
3-Point Bombs Away: Oakland is tied for fourth in 3-point field goals made per game (7.5) while Stennis ranks second in 3-pointer made (2.8) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (43.6).
Dropping Dimes: Jones leads the league in assists (4.2) and dished out a career-high nine assists against Grace Christian (11/6).
