WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS THREE FOR 2019-20 RECRUITING CLASS

ROCHESTER, Mich.
Breanne Beatty, Alona Blackwell and Sydney Gouard have signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Oakland women's basketball team for the 2019-20 season announced head coach Jeff Tungate.
 
"I really like this recruiting class because all three student-athletes are high character kids with a great work ethic," said Tungate. "They have athleticism, length, toughness and the ability to score the basketball. They will be great additions and I am anxious for them to arrive on campus."

BREANNE BEATTY (5'-8") – G
Worthington, Ohio
Thomas Worthington High School
 
Highlights:
• Averaged 15.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assist and 1.4 steals per game
• Helped Worthington to consecutive Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) league championships
• Earned 2017-2018 First-Team and 2016-2017 Second-Team OCC Honors
• Two-time All-Central District Honorable Mention and All-Metro Team Honorable Mention
• Worthington Silver Key Recipient recognizing GPA of 3.5 or higher for five consecutive semesters
 
ALONA BLACKWELL (5'10") – G
Caledonia, Mich.
East Kentwood High School
 
Highlights:
• Averaged 17.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.3 assist, 2.1 steals and 2,7 blocks per game
• Helped lead East Kentwood to 2017 state runner-up finish along with regional, sectional and conference championship and 20-0 regular season record
• 2017-18 First-Team All-Area and First-Team All-Conference and honor mention selection as a junior
• 2016-17 Second-Team All-State, Second-Team All-Area and All-Conference selection as a sophomore
• Two-time All-Academic Team selection
 
SYDNEY GOUARD (5'8") – G
Danville, Ill.
Danville Schlarman High School
 
Highlights:
• Helped lead Danville Schlarman to 2018 Illinois 1A State Championship as a junior
• 2017-2018 IBCA All-State 1A/2A Third-Team and Vermilion Valley All-Conference First-Team selection
• 2017-2018 News Gazette All-Area Second-Team and Commercial-News All-Area First-Team selection
• 2016-2017 IBCA All-State Fourth-Team, Vermilion Valley All-Conference First-Team, All-Area Special Mention and Commercial News All-Area Second-Team selection as a sophomore
• 2015-2016 Vermilion Valley All-Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman
• Scholar Award and High Honor Roll selection and three-year academic letter recipient
