YPSILANTI, Mich. - Juliana Guevara led 5-4 in her singles set before winning by default in Oakland's 6-1 setback to regional foe Eastern Michigan Saturday evening at the Chippewa Club.

Guevara's effort was not alone against the Eagles, as teammates Elizabeth Guy and Karine Celis each played tough in their respective singles matches before falling in straight sets.

"That's the best I have seen Elizabeth and Karine play this season in singles," Oakland head coach Heather Redshaw said. "Doubles was not our strong point today, and Eastersn came out and made some great shots early. We couldn't play catch-up."

Guy was on track for a tiebreaker in the first set at No. 3 singles, but Eastern Michigan's Daphne Friedrichs proved up for the challenge in a 7-5, 6-4 result.

Celis forced a first-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles, but was unable to secure the set before dropping her match 7-6 (4), 6-1.

The Golden Grizzlies will face Ball State Saturday, March 14 in non-conference action in Muncie, Ind.
