PRIMM, Nev. - Evan Bowser shot a final round 66 (-6) to lead the Oakland men's golf team on the final day of the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State, on Tuesday from Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course (par 72, 7,131 yards). The Golden Grizzlies finished fourth with a final score of 862 (-2).
"This was really a strong final day for us and a great job overall by all fie of our guys," said coach Mark Engel. "This time, it was Evan who pulled the wagon down the stretch. What a great round he had today striking the ball, and the putts finally started falling as he went along. Jake Kneen was solid from start to finish. He's up there on the leaderboard with a lot of tremendous golfers. Now we have a few days to enjoy this but, more importantly, to get ready for our tournament at Louisiana-Monroe."
Bowser's 66 is the second-lowest individual round in program history, while his 6-under-par round is also the second-lowest individual round under par in school history. He finished the tournament tied for 14th place with a 213 (-3). Jake Kneen led the Golden Grizzlies as he finished T12 with a 210 (-6) after a 1-under-par final round. Jimmy Jaskoske shared 35th place after carding a final round 74 (+2).
UNLV captured the team championship with a 60-under-par 804 led by the medalist Kurt Kitayama with a 197 (-19).
Oakland returns to the course next week as it competes in the ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe, Monday and Tuesday from Black Bear Resort in Delhi, La.
