MUNCIE, Ind. - Elizabeth Guy and Tamara Blum won No. 3 doubles as the Oakland women's tennis team fell, 7-0, in its final non-conference match of the season to Ball State on Saturday.
"Eli played great today winning doubles and taking their number three to three sets," said coach Heather Redshaw. "It was hard to play that team without Tami in singles, but overall the girls battled today. We are ready for conference matches next weekend. The girls have worked extremely hard in the non-conference matches we have played thus far. Everyone has improved from the beginning of the season and they are ready to battle for conference wins."
Guy and Blum collected the doubles win 6-3. Oakland missed getting the doubles point as Karine Celis and Juliana Guevara fell just short in No. 2 doubles 6-3.
Guy dropped a competitive No. 3 singles match after winning the first set 7-5. BSU's Ashlyn Rang forced a third set before winning a long final set, 12-10.
Guevara played a tough No. 6 singles and almost forced a third set before falling 7-5 in the second set.
The Golden Grizzlies return to the court next weekend as they begin Horizon League play hosting Milwaukee on March 21 and Green Bay on March 22. Both matches begin at 4:30 p.m. at Bloomfield Tennis & Fitness.
