AKRON, Ohio - Cam Sabourin had a strong showing for the Golden Grizzlies, winning both at singles and doubles Saturday evening, but the Golden Grizzlies could not rally in a 6-1 setback to Akron at the LaTuchie Tennis Center.
Sabourin won at No. 1 singles on a third-set tiebreaker after capturing the opening set, 6-4. Akron's Madison Cohen battled back to take the second set, 6-2, before Sabourin prevailed in the tiebreaker.
Oakland started with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles, as Sabourin paired with Juliana Guevara to give the Golden Grizzlies a chance for the doubles point. But Akron responded by winning both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the first point of the match.
