AKRON, Ohio - Juliana Guevara was taken to a tiebreaker and held on to win her No. 6 singles match 6-4, 7-6 (5) as the Oakland women's tennis team (2-9) fell at Akron, 6-1, at the LaTuchie Tennis Center on Saturday.
"We had a couple of strong singles matches as Juliana pulled out her match and Tamara (Blum) just came up a little short," said coach Heather Redshaw. "We've played a lot of tough matches to get us ready for conference next weekend."
Tamara Blum took both No. 3 single sets she played in to tiebreakers but was unable to pull out a victory as she lost 7-6 (2), 7-6 (6). Karine Celis played tough in the No. 3 singles match but lost 6-2, 6-3.
