Oakland Drops Match at Wright State, 6-1

DAYTON, Ohio -- Grace Keating won her match at No. 3 singles in a 6-1 loss for the Oakland women's tennis team (1-14) against Wright State (8-9) at the WSU Tennis Courts on Friday. It was Keating's second singles win of the season, the second most on the team behind Brittany Baxter.

"Grace Keating had an excellent match today," said Oakland head coach Heather Redshaw. "She lost the first set 6-0, but never gave up and came back to win."

After dropping her first set 0-6, Keating won a tiebreaker in the second set, 7-5, to force a third-set and a super-set tiebreaker. In the deciding set, she won 10-7 to complete the 0-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7 win over Abby Lewis at No. 3 singles.

WSU claimed the doubles point and won all three doubles matches. The Raiders won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles and were 8-4 winners at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, WSU won the remaining matches in straight sets. Caitlin Young was in a battle at No. 1 singles, but eventual fell 7-4 in a second-set tiebreaker to complete a 6-2, 7-6 (4) loss to Alex Bastock.

Baxter was close at No. 4 singles losing 6-2, 6-4. Demi Georgakopoulos also battled in a 6-1, 6-3 loss at NO. 2 singles.

It was the final non-league match of the season for OU. The Golden Grizzlies will wrap up the season with a four-match Summit League cluster in Indianapolis. The cluster will open with a doubleheader against Southern Utah and IUPUI starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
