CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro had a double and a home run as the Oakland University softball team (4-8) lost 10-4 to Lipscomb (9-1), Friday afternoon at the Frost Classic.
"They had one big inning on us," said head coach Glenn MacDonald. "I'm proud of the way we competed today. We still made some mental and physical mistakes but we were more competitive that the last time we played them."
In the first game, Lipscomb took advantage of two walks, an error and a passed ball to score three runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the second inning, senior Haley Emerson singled and was replaced by senior Anne Cicchini. Sophomore Leah DiCristofaro belted a triple to right center to score Cicchini.
Junior Alyssa Deacon singled through the left side to score DiCristofaro and make it 3-2. Lipscomb scored one run in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the fourth, Emerson walked and DiCristofaro blasted the ball over the center field fence to tie the game at 4-4. In the bottom of the fourth, the Bison scored four runs to seal the game.
DiCristofaro went two-for-three, scored two runs and drove in three while sophomore Kelsey Krych stole her 10th base of the season. Junior Alison Tansel (1-3) gave up seven hits, eight runs, two earned, walked three batters and struck out two in four innings of work.
Oakland will play Tennessee Tech at 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
