GREENWOOD, Ind. - On Wednesday, May 27, College Sports Communicators announced their 2026 Softball Academic All-District honorees, naming Oakland's
Mary Newton,
Maggie Murphy,
Brooklyn Plitz, and
Brooklyn Wyczalek as recipients of the honor.
The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes across collegiate athletics. District selections advance to consideration for Academic All-America honors, with finalists to be announced later by College Sports Communicators.
While maintaining a high-level of learning in the classroom, the group also were among the elite on the diamond. Murphy and Plitz were both named to Horizon League All-League First and Second Teams, as well as the Horizon League All-Academic Team.
Newton heavily contributed to Oakland's league-best ERA in the circle, as she tossed nearly 30 innings with 13 strikeouts on the season. Wyczalek was an everyday starter at third base, starting in 44 of her 45 appearances as she tallied 10 RBI and was an elite defender on the hot corner.
All four Golden Grizzlies continue the high standard across the program in the classroom.
