CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Michelle Maxfield won a pair of singles contests, but the Oakland University women's tennis team (2-3) was unable to pick up a team win against Dayton or Cleveland State, falling 4-3 to the Flyers on Saturday before dropping a 6-1 decision to the Vikings Saturday in Cleveland.
Against Dayton, OU picked up wins at No. 4 singles from freshman Caitlin Young, No. 5 singles from Maxfield, and at No. 6 singles by junior Lisa Lulgjuraj, but dropped two of three doubles contests, picking up the lone win at No. 3 doubles as Young and senior Amanda Scheer picked up an 8-4 decision.
OU's lone win against Cleveland State in singles came at No. 5 singles, as Maxfield won a 6-3, 2-6, 14-12 decision over CSU's Myra Pepino. Freshman Karen Karoub and senior Lindsay Grimmer won at No. 2 doubles, taking an 8-3 decision over Melissa Holzinger and Jackie Tabb.
OU will return to action on Wednesday, March 18, facing Bradley in Las Vegas. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m.
