            Oakland hosted its Third Annual Basketball Tipoff Breakfast at the Royal Park Hotel on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.
         
     
 
Gordie Lindsay was named Assistant Athletic Director for Development on April 1, 2012. He began working at Oakland in January of 2010 as the Assistant to the Director of Athletics for Community Relations and Athletic Development.
He will oversee the development staff and is charged with major capital campaigns for the athletic department. Lindsay assisted with getting lights on the OU Soccer Field and continues to set records in gift donations since his arrival at Oakland.
Lindsay earned his master's in education and leadership from Oakland in 2008. He also holds a joint degree in education from Cornerstone and Calvin College.
Since 1995 Lindsay has worked with Providence Youth Outreach in Pontiac, Mich. The center works to make a positive impact in the lives of at-risk youths in the greater Pontiac by focusing on education, academics, physical education and spiritual guidance. The Center has helped over 70 young people attend college.
From 2008-12 Lindsay served as the Team Chaplain for the Detroit Pistons. He is well respected throughout the community.
Lindsay has four children Alexandria, Sarah, Gabe and Cosette. He also has two grandchildren, Lily and Liam. Currently he resides in Auburn Hills.
