Oakland Development Adds Scott Collins

April 18, 2012

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Former cross country standout Scott Collins has joined the Oakland Athletic Development office on a part-time basis, announced by Director of Athletics Tracy Huth on Wednesday. Collins, a 2007 Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor Inductee, will assist with alumni athletic relations for the department.

"Scott has been an integral part of the athletic department as a former student-athlete, coach and Hall of Honor member, along with committee service," said Huth. "He brings a passion and commitment level that we value here. We look forward to continuing to engage with former student-athletes and know that Scott will have a major impact with our alumni."

Collins was a standout for OU from 1993-95. He is just the second All-American in cross country and finished 17th at the 1995 NCAA Championships. A two-time all-region and All-GLIAC honoree, Collins won three GLIAC titles during his career.

Formerly a volunteer for the cross country coaching staff, Collins will now join the athletic department to assist with development initiatives. He will be charged with developing and maintaining relationships with former student-athletes that competed in the Pioneer and Golden Grizzlies eras.

"We are excited to add Scott to our development team," said Assistant Athletic Director for Development Gordie Lindsay. "In our mission we talk about friends of the university, and we are adding another 'friend' to our staff that will be able to go out and communicate our message."
